Current Events Jeopardy

While in the library your tasks are several:

·        Find 3 magazine articles your group would like to use for your Jeopardy questions.  Have them approved by me.  Each article must be on a different topic and groups may not repeat topics chosen by another group.  Topics will be chosen on a first-comes, first-served basis.  Articles should be no longer than 2 pages.

·        After having all 3 articles approved by me, take them back to the Teacher’s Aide and have her make enough copies so that everyone in the class will have one.

·        Read the articles and write 5 questions and answers on the index cards I will provide. Also write the name of the category on the cards.

·        The answers must be written in a style appropriate for Jeopardy.  Decide on the difficulty of the answers and assign point values to them ranging from 5 to 25 in 5 point increments.  Write the point value on the opposite side of the index cards as the answers.

On the day of play:

·        Tape the answers on the blackboard beginning with the category card and continuing with the cards in increasing order of difficulty, number side showing.

·        Sit with your team and choose a team name.

·        We will draw names to determine the order of play.

·        You can choose a category and point value.  You may not choose the category your team wrote.

·        Remember to answer by stating a question.

·        The first person to raise his or her hand can ask the question.  If asked correctly, that team gets the point value, if incorrect, they lose that many points.
