The History of America

Description: Advanced placement American History is an accellerated course geared for the work oriented, college bound student which covers the area of colonial days to the 80's. Analysis and evaluation of the essential people and eventsof this time period are vital to this program of study. Students will be required to read one book of historical significance, take notes on all readings and lectures, and participate in the classroom discussions of events and issues covered. Tests will include both objective and subjective material with the emphasis on the latter. Students will be required to keep a portfolio of their writing samples for this course and to take the advanced placement exam. Information on recieving college credit for the course is available from the instructor.
