Student projects

Below is a number of projects I have students/teachers do using technology. Each of the presentations was converted into a Flash format so it would be viewable on the web and reduce the size of the file for the disc. Each project has a brief explanation to its nature and purpose. In order to get a larger view click on the link underneath the media. To protect student confidentiality I have eliminated the last names of the students whose projects appear in this website.

This presentation was done for the India/China unit. Each group was given a different aspect of Ancient Chinese/Indian culture or history and asked to do a PowerPoint that would be used to teach the class about their topic. To view the PowerPoint scroll down the to see the remaining slides. Animations are elimated from this PowerPoint because it was converted with Flash Paper.
All Roads Lead to Rome is an example of a webquest integrated into the cirruculum about 5 years ago. Originally the webquests by the standards and students were asked to create a brochure or PowerPoint about the Rome of Julius Caesar. Since then its has been changed to just a PowerPoint about the Roman empire over the nearly 1,000 year period. I like this webquest because it gives the students another opportunity to interact with the technology as well learn about a side of Rome that we may not discuss in class.

This was the only attempt from any of my students to learn and do a Flash project. They did an on-line quiz on Imperialism. The quiz looks similiar to the tutorial I did for the units in my WAHG 1 class. It does have some features that are different from mine.

  MovieMaker Projects
The presentation you see to the left is one students did for a Video documentary on an influential civil/human rights leader during the 1900's. The only other requirement for this project was the video had to be made with MovieMaker. To view this presentation you will need an Internet connection. If one is not available click here!
The movie to the right was one the students did as part of their presentation on Vietnam. The presentation was a multimedia presentation on the war in Vietnam and was supposed to contain 3 different methods of presentation. This video was used as an introduction to get the class interested in the presentation. This is the only remaining part of the Presentation. To view this presentation you will need an Internet connection. If one is not available click here!
The project on the left is a example of a commerical on Equality. The purpose of the project was to create a commerical meant to sell their political view to the public during the Cold War. To view this presentation you will need an Internet connection. If one is not available click here!

The website was done in my first independent study in 2004-2005. This class is only offered to students who have completed their Social Studies requirements for graduation and are in their senior year of high school. Two students worked together to create this website discussing aspects of WWII. The students had to do research on their topic and learn the web editor Dreamweaver to make their web. To actually see the web click on the link under the picture on the right.

  Web 2.0 Project

To view this presentation, you will need an internet connection. This presentation was done using SplashCast, a web 2.0 application. The students did a different political view from the one on equality. Press the start button with the arrow to view presentation.
