  Introduction
 
     You’ve been hired by a film production crew, recently, to work on a Project about the Human Rights worldwide movement here in the US during the 1950’s–60’s. Your crew will be responsible for producing 1 segment of a 6 segment documentary detailing the prominent people and groups that pushed the Human rights here in America and around the world. You and your team will be responsible for creating a segment of a documentary on a key individual or group impacting on the Human Rights movement. Each team will be responsible for:
  • Researching the segment
  • Creating a video segment that lasts 7-10 minutes
  • Provided a typed bibliography of all sources used in the production of the segment (video, pictures, etc...)
  • A typed script for the narration of the segment

1.   1. Use the rubric and segment assignment for creating your documentary.
   2. Use the Internet, books, encyclopedia, etc to do research on your person/group. Everyone must participate in the research aspect of the project (hint: assign different parts from the segments section to each individual). The research should include all the written work found on your person, pictures of the person or events that he/she participated in, sound, videos, etc..
   3. After completing research all information should be given to the producer and the production assistant for final decision on what information will be used in the documentary.All this information must be organized and sorted for the writer.
   4. The writer will be responsible for writing, recording, and editing the narration for the Multimedia technician.
   5. The Multimedia technician will be responsible for creating the segment from the sources provided..

Producer
The Producer will be responsible for sorting and organizing all the research of the group and then working with the Production assistant to decide which information will be used in the documentary. The producer will need to verify the accuracy of the historical information.
 
Main Responsibilities:
  • ØSorting and organizing information for documentary
  • Overseeing group members tasks (reported an the end of every week) 
  • Verifying the accuracy of historical data
  • Gathering of resources used for documentary
Production Assistant
The production assistant will be responsible for assisting the producer in gathering and sorting of all historical data. The production assistant will need to write the bibliography for all the resources used in the documentary (e.g. pictures, Internet sites, etc). The production assistant will then categorized all the information for the multimedia engineer.
 
Main Responsibilities:
  • ØAssisting in sorting and organizing information for documentary
  • Categorizing the data for the Multimedia engineer
  • Writing the bibliography in MLA-style
Multimedia Engineer
The multimedia engineer will be responsible for inputting all the information (text, pictures, sounds, video, etc) and animations into the video segment. The multimedia engineer will also be responsible for capturing and editing the video.
 
Main Responsibilities:
  • ØCapturing and editing video with all transitions, titles, pictures, etc..
  • Editing the documentary (must be 7-10 minutes in length when complete )
Writer
The writer will be responsible for writing the narration. The writer will oversee the all aspects of the narration including its recording and editing.
 
Main responsibilities:
  • TTyping the script that will be used for the video (must be between 7-10 in length when done and match the video)
  • Recording and editing the segments narration

  Grading
 
Students will be graded by 3 criteria. The criteria are documentary itself, student participation (as observed by teacher), and student participation (as observed by other group members). Each part will have a rubric which will be completed at the end of the project. Each rubric can be found by clicking on the underlined text in the sentences below.
 
1. The Group will be graded using the group rubric. This is used to grade the actual product. Worth
    100 pts.
2. Each Individual will receive a grade for their participation and execution of their job using the
    individual rubric. This rubric is used by the teacher and is based on observation during class.
    Worth 25 pts.
3. Students will also be graded by their fellow students on this exercise. The student performance
    rubric will be used by the group. Students will grade their group members on their contribution
   
made to the project. Worth 75points.
