What is going on in Revolutions!

     In this unit we will be looking at the Russian Revolution and the Communist take over of that country. In addition we will be examining the effects of nationalism on the countries of China, Japan, and Mexico. With this unit the class will be taking a group test for the USSR and will have to do a presentation on one of the above mentioned countries and look at how their country dealt with Nationalism.

Put the following terms from the board into notebooks: Lenin, Proletariat, Socialism, Bolsheviks, and Dictatorship.
What is the relationship between the terms? Write a paragraph using these terms about the Russian Revolution
Break rows into groups: Create a timeline of the events of the Russian Revolution starting with 1913 – 300th Anniversary of Romanov Rule and end with 1921(11 total items [5 paragraphs, 6 pictures]). This is a graded assignment and the best timeline will get an A, second best B, and so on...
Assign
: Chpt 28 Sec 2,  Day in the Life handout, and “Riddle of the Romanovs”

Wrote on board: “Bolshevik Revolution led to Civil War in Russia”. Write into notes and Explain why?
Used a PowerPoint to examine the similiarities and differences between Lenin and Stalin
Discussed the Romanov handout from last night
Put overhead “Russian Revolution” 6 questions up

1.      Assign 6 to a group

2.      ½ hour to prepare to answer the 6 questions

3.      Test

4.      Ave the grades in each group – everyone gets the ave. grade

Review the answers to the questions

Collect map of USSR
Read p. 736 outloud with students
Look at cartoon on p. 737 and read caption. Answered and discussed the question in the caption.
Pass out Nationalism and Revolution assignment, review, and put students into groups. Presentations on day 5.
They must have their section read by tomorrow for a quiz.
Rest of the period to work on reading assignment and start their Nationalism and Revolution project
