             World between Wars


 

What is going on in World between Wars!

     In this unit we will be looking at the World between WWI and WWII, paying attention to the changes socially in America. We will also be examining the Stock Market Crash and its impact on the globe as well as the rise of Fascism, Communism, and Nazism in Europe. In this unit, we will be doing a presentation on one of the main figures in the world in 1932 as well assign the Museum Project which will due at the end of the WWII unit. There isn't a test on this unit but there are quizzes throughout the unit.

Used the Guided Reading and Review from last night to review Ch 30 sec 2
Overhead paragraph of Slang Terms from the 1920's. First had class determine what was being said in the paragraph, then had class rewrite it using today's slang (looked at the differences)

Pass out Museum Project 20’s and 30’s – get into groups (due after WWII unit) explained assignment and went to the library to work on Museum Project

Discussed in class presentation. Dueling presentation. We will be examining the lives of Mussolini, FDR, and Hitler. There will be six groups two groups will have the same topic, and then compete to points by doing a better presentation.
Video: Biography on FDR . Discussed high points and low points of the former president
Assign: World History 774-777 and Guided Reading and Review p. 62 and  Define: Fascism, Communism, and Democracy

While looking at the transparency answer “is this a good/bad leader?”

Question for discussion: What makes a good leader? In groups of 2 –   listed 5 characteristics of a good leader
Combined groups of 2 into groups of  4 – combined lists. Make new best 5 list characteristics

Combined groups of 4 into groups of  8 – combined lists. Make new best 5 list characteristics

Each group put their list on the board. Discussed the list and made one list for class

Video: Biography on Mussolini (in Library)- discussed video and the high and low points of the dictator

Using the list for the class asked and answered the question: “Was Mussolini a good leader?”
Assign: World History 778-783 and Guided Reading and Review page 64
