Prerequisite: Algebra I
This level of Algebra II is paced for the strong, advanced mathematics student who wishes to prepare thoroughly for levels of pre-calculus and/or calculus. The student who selects this course rather than the other levels should be a strong achiever at the Algebra I level and a highly motivated individual with responsible work habits. The course includes a rapid review of Algebra I, but focuses on functions, graphing, the real number system, the complex number system, solving higher degree polynomial equations, quadratic relations and systems, logarithms, series and sequences, and two units which introduce trigonometry. The course includes some cooperative learning sessions, and a few computer sessions near the end of the course to show students how some of their work could have been done on a graphing calculator or computer. Many individual and group packet projects are interspersed throughout the course to include in their portfolio.
