The Selinsgrove Area High School Media Center is a place where students and faculty can learn more about the world around them. The Media Center houses over 18,000 items, including books, various general and specialized encyclopedia volumes, videos, newspaper, magazines, and resources on microfiche and microfilm. The facility includes a classroom, a conference room, a computer lab, and a professional/career library. Computers with connection to the school network, internet access, and the Microsoft Office Suite are constantly available for use. The school subscribes to online information databases such as EBSCOHost, and these allow students to find good information very quickly. In addition to regular school hours the media center is open on Tuesday evenings from 7pm to 9pm, and from 9am to 3pm Wednesday (summer only).
Mrs. Knitter has been the high school librarian since 1995. As the Media Center Director/Librarian, she collects, organizes, and circulates books, magazines, and other information resources for students and faculty that pertain to the curriculum. She also helps students research on electronic databases, including the Internet. She also teaches basic skills and research courses for the graduation projects, such as Graduation Project Fundamentals class. These courses help students with their graduation project research papers and project development.
Mrs. Knitter attended Wesleyan University for her B.A. Degree in Art History and English. She attended Columbia University for her M.S. degree in Library Science.
Mrs. Knitter enjoys working with the students and helping them locate new sources of information. It also lets her learn new things everyday. She dislikes snow days because you are stuck in the house and it takes away from the real vacation. In her free time she likes to read (of course), do needlework, and go biking.
Working under my title at Selinsgrove High School, I help the students here search for information, I also do clerical work in the library, make sure the library is neat, and monitor students on the computers. When I am not in school you would most likely find me taking pictures, helping out at my farm, or at church.

Working under my title at Selinsgrove High School, I check books in and out of our library, run "overdue" transactions, enter new information into the computer and help students find information. I have been here since January of 1991 and I still find my job as interesting as my first day. One thing I like about my job is the atmosphere. It's not as stressful as some other jobs people have to face in the everyday grind of their life. I look forward to my job every day.
