Mr. Horton's Chemistry Page
Mr. Horton teaches Chemistry Concepts, Chemistry 1 & 2. In these classes you will have labs, worksheets, and also will have to take notes.

Description of the courses:

Chemistry Concepts is taught to grades 10,11,& 12. This is a course that students who do not plan on considering a science or mathematical field should consider. The areas of study are chemistry: classification and separation of matter; atomic theory; periodicity, bonding, chemical equations and reactions;electro-chemistry; acids, bases and salts; nuclear chemistry, carbon chemistry and the chemistry of consumer products and foods.

Chemistry I is a course taught to grades 10,11,& 12. It is taught to college bound students who plan on having a career based on a science related field. The areas studied are the atomic concept of matter, kinetic molecular theory, matter-energy relationships, the Periodic Law, chemical bonding, chemical equations, gas laws, properties of solutions, ionization theory, and acids, bases, and salts.

Chemistry II is taught to grade 12. It is taught to the students who wish to broaden their knowledge of chemistry. Topics that are studied include ionization; kinetics of gases and liquids; nature of solutions, including colligative properties; acids and bases; pH and titration; reaction energy and reaction kinectics; chemical equilibrium; oxidation - reduction and electrochemistry; and analytical processes.
