Orb Spiders are responsible for many Monarch deaths.  The Orb Spiders are not enemies or predators of the Monarch so how does this happen?  Ask us.  We made our own spiders......check them out!

We conquered Picdoku!

Look how much we (2nd and 3rd graders) raised for the Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary!!!

Our symbolic butterflies are ready for their "migration" to our Mexican exchange classmates.  They will begin their journey on October 10th and, like their real counterparts, we will never see them again. BUT......we will be receiving a new butterfly from Mexico in the Spring in conjunction with the real Monarch migration north!!  How cool is that!?

Our first Monarch emerged!  It's a boy and already off on its Journey south to Mexico!!

Lynn turned out to be a girl.  WOW.........I'm glad!! Notice how she didn't want to leave my hand?  Must be the name the kids gave her!  Haha!!

Zach's butterfly was released on Sept. 12.  It was a boy and Zach chose the name John! Check him out!

L's butterfly emerged on Tuesday and her prediction was correct!  It was a girl!  Welcome Elizabeth....happy migrating!!  Elizabeth liked L!

S's Monarch turned out to be a boy just as he predicted!  Bobeart was released on Friday, Sept. 19th.  Happy migrating Bobeart!!

M's butterfly emerged over the weekend!  M named it Butter and his prediction of a boy was right on target!!

Our last chrysalis emerged into a beautiful butterfly on September 23rd. S's chrysalis turned out to be a girl!  He named her Beautifly!  What a perfect name because she was beautiful and she could really fly!!
