Reading and Language Arts

    At Selinsgrove we use the Harcourt Series. In the series we are able to read shorten versions of chapter books. We read various genres and learn about the many forms of reading. Please have your student access the Harcourt website for extra practice and studying purposes:

• use prior knowledge
• ask questions
• focus on important ideas
• make inferences
• retelling
• use picture and contextual cues
• use syntax (does it sound right?)
• look for patterns
