Social Studies
Our social studies
program sets the scene with the study of sweeping events
that characterize the times. These events are presented in
chronological order and organized on a timeline. Through our study
of maps and globes, social
studies becomes hands on. As Selinsgrove
School District is committed to educating the "whole" child, citizenship and American values
are also central themes. Citizenship education stresses both our common
ground and our diversities, and it teaches responsibility toward family,
community, and nation.
Topics of interest include:
Native Americans
Colonization
The War for Independence
The Civil War between the States
The Westward Expansion
The Twentieth Century
Modern Times
