Meet Mrs. Gasteiger |
|
| Hello! I'm Mrs. Gasteiger. I'm looking forward to my third year teaching at Selinsgrove Intermediate School. Fifth grade is an exciting year and lots of learning goes on. I team teach with Mr.
Showers. I teach the math and science parts of the curriculum, and Mr.
Showers teaches the language arts and social studies portions. |
| I came to be teaching here in Selinsgrove through a non-traditional path. I grew up in a small town in New Hampshire, where the winters were much worse then those here in central PA. I went to college at Brown University in Rhode Island and graduated with a ScB in Psychology way back in 1984. I then moved to Boston and joined the very exciting high-technology boom. I worked for a leading software company for many years. |
| My husband and I then decided to leave the city and chose to move to the beautiful central Susquehanna Valley. During this time I took a break from paying work to spend time at home with our children. Then I bought a small store in Lewisburg and ran it for a couple of years. After I closed that business, I went to work as an emergency substitute teacher in the Milton and Mifflinburg school districts. Ta Da--I loved teaching! |
| No longer satisfied to be a substitute, I went back to college. I completed Susquehanna University's Teacher Intern program and got certified. Before coming to Selinsgrove, I taught 3rd Grade at Mifflinburg Elementary School for one year. School is so much fun that I am now working on a Master's degree at Bloomsburg University. |
| I live in Lewisburg with my husband and my three children, who keep me busy with my second career as their chauffer. |
