Mr. Terry Heintzelman, Principal

Selinsgrove Area Intermediate School

Education takes teamwork! That is a nice slogan, but it is more than a slogan. At Selinsgrove Area Intermediate School it is our belief. My name is Terry Heintzelman, and I am the principal.

We have all the district's grades 3-5 population housed at this building. Our 3-5 student population is approximately 570. Our smallest class size is 22 and our largest class size is 24. We have nine third grade classrooms, eight fourth, and eight fifth. We have some of the highest scores in the region on the state tests. Each of the last three years, our scores have gotten better. Although I could continue on with more and more statistics, let me tell you what is more important. The faculty and staff at this building are excellent! They are enthusiastic, care about kids, and are constantly looking for ways to improve. Continually asking, "What's best for kids?" is the norm around here.

The other key to the success of the building, is the tremendous parental support we enjoy. We enjoy an active parent group (PTSO) that meets every month, except December, and you are encouraged to attend. Last year we had over 200 parents volunteering in the classrooms and throughout the school, helping students. The community has also supported us in a variety of ways. We have a RARE (Responsible and Respectful Everyday) program that is sponsored by three local restaurants. Third grade's sponsor is Amato's Pizza, the fourth grade sponsor is Perkins, and fifth grade's sponsor is Friendly's. With our wonderful faculty and staff, students, parents, and community, Selinsgrove Area Intermediate School is a great place for kids! Your children are fortunate to go to school here and I am fortunate to be able to work in this environment.
