What To Do If My Child Needs to Take Medication at School

If your child needs to take medication during school hours, please follow these steps.

  1. District nurses cannot administer medication without both parent signature and the provider’s signature (Physician, CRNP, or PA-C) on our district’s Medication Administration form.  The only exception to this is to have a separate signed medication order from the provider that can be stapled on the official district’s Medication Administration form.
  2. All medication must be brought to the nurse’s office by a parent or guardian, not the student.
  3. All medication must be submitted in the original bottle or container.
  4. All medication must not be expired.
  5. All school district nurses are more than happy to assist you with this process. Contact your child’s school nurse for assistance.
